Our experienced speech-language pathologists use evidence-based practices to develop effective communication strategies, increase self-awareness, and build self-esteem. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and our program is dedicated to making a meaningful difference in their lives. Our commitment to personalized care and attention means that each child we work with receives the individualized support they need to achieve improved communication and a brighter future.
Salt Lake City Area Day Camp for Kids & Teens Who Stutter

We are passionate about assisting children who stutter in improving their communication skills and regaining their confidence. WHAT
Tom realized that many of the struggles that plagued adult stutterers for their entire life could've been avoided, or greatly reduced if they had received appropriate treatment and support in their developing years. Adapted from an adult stuttering program (The SSMP), the pillars of the WCSMP uniquely address every aspect of stuttering so that the child can finally feel confident and in control of their speech.
- STUTTERING MANAGEMENT: Using a combination of evidence-based stuttering treatment techniques, participants learn, practice, and transfer their new skills in a variety of situations and functional settings.
- PERSONALIZED TRAINING PLANS: Each child is assigned a clinician to provide individual therapy, monitor their progress throughout the program, provide daily homework assignments, and tailor workshops and outings to the child's specific speech needs.
- HIGHLY SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT: An incredibly supportive environment that creates a community of stutterers who share in each other's stories, fears, and triumphs. Most importantly, the group finds solidarity in one another and inspires each other to find acceptance and confidence in their stuttering. The esprit de corp is the power of the program.
- PARENT EMPOWERMENT: Gives parents the resources, training, and education to support their child and maintain their progress well after the program ends.
- CERTIFIED CLINICIANS: Licensed speech pathologists as well as graduate students in speech pathology receive valuable training and the program is closely supervised by ASHA-certified stuttering specialists.
In addition to our clinical objectives, we strive to serve our community by providing intensive stuttering therapy programs that are accessible to all. We recognize that stuttering can have a significant impact on an individual's daily life, and our goal is to provide effective stuttering treatment options that are affordable and within reach for everyone. We are proud to be a part of the stuttering community and are committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve.

Stuttering Therapy FAQs
What age should you start stuttering therapy?
Stuttering therapy can be beneficial for individuals of all ages, but the earlier it is started, the better the chances of success. For children who stutter, it is generally recommended that therapy starts between the ages of 2 and 5. Early intervention can prevent stuttering from becoming a long-term problem and may even lead to complete recovery in some cases.
When do you refer to speech therapy for stuttering?
A referral for speech therapy for stuttering should be made if a person's stuttering is causing them distress, affecting their daily communication, or if the stuttering has lasted for longer than six months. A speech-language pathologist (SLP) can help evaluate the individual's speech and language abilities, assess the severity of the stuttering, and develop an individualized treatment plan.
Can kids outgrow stuttering?
Many children can and do outgrow stuttering without any formal intervention. However, for some children, stuttering may persist and become more severe if left untreated. It is difficult to predict who will outgrow stuttering and who will require treatment. Early intervention, such as speech therapy, can help children overcome stuttering and prevent it from becoming a long-term problem.
